Hope for the Homeless: Moving towards a Better Tomorrow

These days, even the smallest act of kindness can save a life, particularly when it comes to someone who is unable to care for themselves. Our goal at Nullker is to raise awareness of these individuals and organisations among the general public. Our today's heroes are dedicated owners, fearless volunteers, and just people with big hearts - Nandia and Marios, the founders and owners of the "Hope for the Homeless" shelter in Cyprus. Since eight years ago, this incredible couple has been managing the shelter, where abandoned and injured animals can get not only a "roof over their heads'', but also the love we all need and deserve. Currently, about 45 dogs, 25 cats and 2 donkeys live in the shelter. This organization stands out not only for its unlimited care for animals, but also for its financial independence. "Hope for the Homeless" receives no funds from municipalities or national funds. The entire process of keeping and rescuing dogs is based on gifts and voluntary donations.

Everyone who joined this family repeatedly spend their own free time bringing a dog to the door of a new loving home. This difficult but incredibly valuable mission teaches us that even through little actions we can make a great difference.

Nandia and Marios' words that "Every dog deserves a home, and if we can dream it, we can make it happen" became not only a motto, but are also a source of strength for the entire team.

Lately, a new important stage of the project of constructing a new shelter on the newly acquired plot has begun.  The total cost of the project is €120,000. The organization counts on and hopes for the support of everyone who is able to join in order to save all dogs from a terrible fate on the street this year.

"For the last 3 years the landlord has not paid his debts and now we are threatened with eviction. We don't know when they will evict us, we don't know what will happen to our dogs, we rescued them, and we do not want them to be back in the streets or be euthanized, so we really need to create a safe place for them. This is our dream, and that's why we sincerely ask you to help us", - said Nandia, the founder of the shelter.

Hundreds of dogs got their new families not only in Cyprus, but also abroad. For each of them, "Hope for the Homeless" became the small miracle that changed their lives.

The owners of the shelter are a  living example of how uniting around the goal of saving animals,  the opportunity to create wonders turns out to be inexhaustible. And as long as there is at least one person with an open heart, nothing is impossible for the organization.

In the period when the winter frosts are getting closer and closer, every help is a step towards providing warmth to those who need it most. And this desire can become a reality if we join forces. Even the smallest gift and contribution makes the world a better place for every heart that is looking for its home.
