Where 30 trucks dumping plastic waste daily resulted in a burdened landscape of waste, this organization emerged. What's its goal? It's to rescue the dumpsite from the influx of plastic waste by collecting it meticulously and returning it to the recycling cycle.

For Samuel Mburu, the founder of this project, it's not just about saving the dumpsite. Together with the team they aim to change people's perceptions, to show them that it's more than just a landfill; it's an opportunity for change.

"I started working at the 'Dandora' landfill when I was 10 years old, and I've been doing this so far. I remember, in the beginning all we did was walking around collecting plastic just to have something. We could rarely get a few coins to buy some food, and there were times I couldn't even go to school due to lack of money to pay school fees," says Samuel Mbura.

The Dandora Green Recyclers team, consisting of ten dedicated individuals, are the real heroes of this ecological story. They process waste, gather plastic, and tirelessly promote the idea of sustainability. "We maintain gender balance in the team - five women, five men - ensuring equality in all our operations," emphasizes Samuel.

Beyond simple plastic recycling, this initiative aims to change the community's perception of waste management. As the project initiators believe, "It's about restoring hope." When people hear "Dandora dumpsite," they imagine waste and pollution. But for them, it's about preventing plastic from reaching the landfill, attracting investors, and inspiring the youth.

Dandora Green Recyclers symbolizes hope amidst environmental challenges. It's not just about plastic recycling; it's about rewriting the community's story, providing it with purpose and opportunities for a brighter and cleaner future.

Every day, the Dandora Green Recyclers team strives to make the world a better place, and you can help them. On Nullker's official website, you can support them once or sign up for a monthly membership. So, without further ado, let us have this eco-friendly journey together.
